Our Best Tips for Upgrading Your Wardrobe This Season

Without a doubt, new seasons tend to inspire people to revamp their wardrobes. Whether that means testing out a new trend, repurchasing old favorites, or filling in gaps in your current style lineup, upgrading your wardrobe is an excellent way to breathe a little life into your style.    Are you ready?   Here are some easy ways you can revamp your wardrobe for the season:    1)   Sort your current wardrobe    First things first, before you even begin to think about adding to your wardrobe, we recommend sorting through what items you currently own. There’s a strong possibility there are items you’ve forgotten about, that you don’t wear, or that could use replacing.    Be ruthless here: Toss out that shirt with the hole in it, make note that you seem to be missing a basic white tee from your wardrobe, and if that green dress you bought three summers ago still isn’t getting any use, donate it!   2)   Pick one (or two) trend(s)   Now that your closet is ready to welcome in some new pieces, we recommend identifying which trends you’re interested in.    This can be a bit overwhelming if you’re starting with a fairly basic wardrobe, so pick just one trend that interests you and commit to finding that perfect piece.    Maybe it’s a pair of mom jeans? Or perhaps you’re loving all the use of puff sleeves? Maybe it’s even just a color that you’re drawn to? Whatever the case, pick one, or perhaps two if you’re feeling adventurous. Sticking closely to one or two trends will keep you from getting overwhelmed.    3)   Don’t forget accessories    When we think about refreshing our wardrobes, we tend to focus on clothing, but let’s not forget accessories.    One of the easiest ways to take an outfit from plain to eye-popping, adding accessories to your wardrobe is a hassle-free way to bring some sparkle to your style.    4)   Don’t neglect basics + staples    We love a good trend as much as the next person, but if you don’t already have some of the classic staples in your wardrobe, it’s time to step up your game.    A good pair of jeans, a little black dress, the perfect tailored blazer, a pair of trendy sneakers—identify those pieces that never go out of style and make sure they’re a part of your wardrobe today. You’ll thank yourself later.    5)   Step outside your comfort zone    And lastly, when looking to refresh your wardrobe, we always encourage people to try new styles, trends, and designs that they might otherwise pass on.    This doesn’t mean you have to go for the wildest outfit ever, but even just adding a new color or a silhouette that you’re not accustomed to can make all the difference in helping you upgrade your sense of style.

Fashion Pieces That are Here to Stay

Trends are constantly changing, and something new is always around the corner. It’s hard to decide what to keep when clearing out your closet for spring and summer. But these staple pieces will almost certainly be stylish no matter how trends evolve.    Jeans The blue jean was invented in 1873 and for over two centuries, this staple of American life has remained constant. Flare leg or skinny, denim pants will never go out of style, so you can be confident in keeping them as part of your wardrobe.    Little Black Dress The roaring twenties gave birth to this fashion trend, and the little black dress has remained a symbol of confidence and power ever since. This piece can be paired with anything from high heels and a shawl for formal events or a simple cardigan and flats for work.    Sneakers Over two hundred years old, this is a shoe that is becoming more and more celebrated. With athleisure being the leading fashion trend over the last few years, you can be sure that a pair of sneakers can be worn for almost any event.    T-shirt Almost at popular as jeans, the t-shirt has a two-hundred-year-old history that’s still going strong today. With versatile designs and patters, a t-shirt can be paired with almost anything. Jeans and sneakers for your day off, or a pencil skirt and blazer for the boardroom, this piece isn’t going anywhere.    Leather Jacket Another product of the 1920’s, this piece is a must for every wardrobe. Whether it’s suede and soft, or jet black and accented in chrome, it’s always a special day when you throw on this piece. Pair with a flirty summer dress for a date night, or jeans and a crop-top for an edgy look that’s sure to make a statement.    Spring cleaning your closet is a therapeutic process, and helps us transition from the heavy coats and gloominess of winter, to the relaxed and fresh styles of spring. No matter what reason you have for cleaning out your closet, these pieces are a must for the keep pile.
